Heritage Kala-Parv SIX LIMBS OF ART

Descent of Ganga-(picture byAntriksh Mukherjee)
Recently the heritage school conducted it's annual Art fest-Kala-Parv, which has gone through beautifully. I and my class together have contributed to the art fest by making what I like to call the show stopper of the fest, The Descent of Ganga,
and later on by turning into the guides of the fest.
The whole festival was based on the art from the Gupta period. During this period there was social and political stability, which is why they could emphasize upon documentation of various Puranas and Jatakas(tales passed on orally from generation to generation. These were later documented on the walls of the Ajanta Ellora caves). One such purana is the Vishnudharmottra purana. In this particular document are mentioned the six limbs of art.
The art fest included art made by the children from nursery to class 12th. The representations of real gupta statues and sculptures are replicated using thermocol, sand-paper, using Batik style of dyeing, and cloth.

You can view most of our art-works here, and an explanation of the aesthetics of it.
